What mattress firmness is right for me?
Firmness depends on your sleep position, body weight and personal preference. Side sleepers generally suit a softer feel as it cushions pressure points at the hip and shoulder. What's the difference between pocket sprung and open coil?
Open coil mattresses use a single connected wire system — less expensive but more prone to motion transfer. Pocket sprung mattresses have individual springs each sewn into their own fabric pocket, so they respond independently to movement and weight. This means better support, less partner disturbance, and a longer lifespan. Pocket sprung is generally the superior choice for most sleepers.
Is memory foam good for back pain?
Memory foam can be very effective for back pain as it contours to the body's natural curves and distributes pressure evenly. However, if you need firm spinal support, a medium-firm pocket sprung or hybrid mattress may work better. Allow your mattress to air periodically — pull back the covers for 20 minutes each morning before making the bed.
